Corrie’s Jack P Shepherd and Liberty X’s Kevin Simm were celebrity judges at Pontin’s Starquest 2008

“Corrie” star Jack P Shepherd and former Corrie star Scott Wright, together with ex Liberty X member, Kevin Simm were part of the celebrity judging panel for the Grand Finals of Pontin’s Starquest 2008 when Kathy O’Grady (21) from Radnor Drive, Widnes beat 13 other Grand Finalists to claim the title, trophy and star prize - an opportunity to record a five-track cover album, including photography and CD cover design, in the famous Revolution recording studios* , Cheadle, Cheshire. She can also choose a mini home entertainment system or professional performance microphone.

The Grand Final took place at Pontin’s Blackpool Holiday centre last Saturday 15th November. Acts were judged on talent, content, presentation and star quality. Katie’s rendition of the song ‘All that Jazz” from the musical “Chicago ” impressed the judging panel and clinched the title for her.

Kathy hobbies are singing, reading and socialising and talent runs in the family as her younger sister is competing in the Junior Starquest finals at Pontin’s Prestatyn Sands Holiday centre next weekend.

• The competition attracts hundreds of entries throughout the season and the 14 Grand finalists were chosen from over 60 heat winners at the Semi Finals held on 14th November at the Blackpool Centre.
